What is the Wintercard?
The Wintercard is the winter guest card you receive with your accommodation in Austrian resorts. Unlike the Sommercard it does not include mountain railways, but ski bus, public transport, cross-country trails, guided tours and discounts. Here we compare the cards together with ski pass prices.
Is the Sommercard valid in winter too?
No. Summer cards (Zell am See-Kaprun, Schladming-Dachstein, Kärnten Card and others) are valid roughly from May to October. In winter the lifts are sold as a ski pass, and no Austrian guest card includes skiing.
Is the winter guest card free?
Usually yes, from your host from the first night (paid for through the local tourist tax). The exception is the Kärnten Card Winter, which you buy (season package €89 for adults).
Is the ski bus free?
In most ski resorts yes, with the guest card or the ski pass. Throughout SalzburgerLand all overnight guests use public transport free with the Guest Mobility Ticket.
Do children ski for free?
It depends on the ski area. The youngest (usually born 2021 or later) ski free in most areas, often only with a parent who has a ski pass. At the Stubai Glacier even children under 10 ski free with a paying parent.
