Where children ski for free: Austrian ski areas 2026/27
In which Austrian ski areas children ski free in 2026/27, up to what age and on what conditions. A comparison of 22 price lists and family offers.

Short answer: in most large Austrian ski areas, children born in 2021 or later ski free, so roughly up to the age of 5. Children ski free for longest at the Stubai Glacier and in Ischgl with the VIP ski pass: under 10 with a paying parent. In spring several ski areas also let older children ski free when a parent buys a multi-day pass.
We compared the official 2026/27 price lists of 22 ski areas. In Austria age is counted by year of birth, not by birthday.
Free for longest
| Ski area | Free | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Stubai Glacier | under 10 | with a paying parent, same pass category, only at the ticket office |
| Silvretta Arena Ischgl | under 10 with the VIP ski pass, otherwise under 8 | VIP ski pass only with the Ischgl/Mathon guest card, child with a parent |
| Mölltal Glacier | born 2019 or later | with the parents |
| Pitztal and Kaunertal Glacier | born 2019 or later | only a €2 fee |
Free up to 5 (born 2021 or later)
This applies in SkiWelt, with the Ski ALPIN CARD (Saalbach, Zell am See, Kaprun), in Ski amadé, at KitzSki, in the Zillertal, in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, at Nassfeld, in Obertauern, at Kreischberg and on the Turracher Höhe. In Saalbach and at Nassfeld the child must be accompanied by an adult or a parent.
Almost free
- Sölden, Obergurgl-Hochgurgl and Kühtai: the youngest (born 2019–2022, in Kühtai 2019 or later) pay €2 a day.
- Bad Kleinkirchheim: the toddler ski pass costs €6 for a stay of up to 6 days.
Spring and family offers
- Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau: from 13 Mar 2027 all children up to 15 ski free if at least one parent buys a ski pass for 3 days or more.
- Nauders: during the family weeks 20 Mar – 4 Apr 2027, children up to 15 ski free if a parent buys a Nauders+ ski pass for 5 days or more.
- Silvretta Montafon: from 20 Mar to 11 Apr 2027 children (born 2008 or later) get a multi-day pass of 5 days or more free if a parent buys a multi-day pass for the same period.
- Nassfeld: when you buy two adult and two child day passes, the third and any further child skis free.
Where even the youngest do not ski free
In Ski Arlberg the youngest children (born 2019 or later) have their own Snowman rate. We did not find its price in the price list. In Nauders and Ski Juwel the overview gives no price for the youngest, so the calculator counts them as paying children.
What this does to the price
For a family with two children (aged 9 and 5), 6-day ski passes are cheapest at the Stubai Glacier (€710), because both children ski free. The typical price is around €1,040. The full comparison is in the ski pass price index, and the calculator works out the exact price for your family and dates.
