Schladming accommodation with the Summer Card: where to look and what to check

Schladming accommodation with the Summer Card (Schladming-Dachstein Card) 2026: where to find partner accommodation, which area to choose and what to ask before booking.

You only get the Summer Card in Schladming with your accommodation: stay with a partner host and it’s free from the first night. Since March 2026 it’s called the Schladming-Dachstein Card, and according to the tourist board over 800 places to stay in the region take part. But not every hotel or apartment in Schladming is a partner, and that’s exactly what to check before you pay for your booking.

At a glance (summer 2026):

  • The card is free from one night at partner accommodation; you can’t buy it.
  • Valid 14 May – 1 November 2026, from 1 pm on arrival day and all day on departure day.
  • The Dachstein glacier is included only if you stay at least two consecutive nights with the same host.
  • Find partners in the region’s official search. On Booking and similar sites, ask the host.

What the card includes and how to plan a week with one cable car a day is in our article on the Schladming-Dachstein Card 2026. This one is only about where to stay.

Where to find accommodation with the Schladming-Dachstein Card

  1. The region’s official search. schladming-dachstein.at lists only accommodation that issues the card. It’s the safest route: whatever you find there comes with the card.
  2. Booking.com and other sites. Partner accommodation is often listed there too, it just usually doesn’t say so. Message the host before you book and ask directly (the questions are below). On the card page you’ll find a Booking search for Schladming, Ramsau am Dachstein, Haus im Ennstal and Gröbming with your dates and group.
  3. After booking, your host sends you a link to the web app, where you activate the digital card for yourself and your fellow travellers. You can also get it as a physical card on site.

General tips for finding partner accommodation across Austria are in our article on accommodation with a summer card in Austria.

Which area to choose

The card is valid across the whole region, so where you stay doesn’t decide which cable cars you can use, only what’s closest:

  • Schladming and Rohrmoos: a town with shops and restaurants, with the Planai and Hochwurzen lifts right above it. A good choice if you want to reach everything on foot or by bus.
  • Ramsau am Dachstein: a sunny high plateau below the Dachstein, quieter and very family-friendly. Closest to the Dachstein glacier cable car and the Rittisberg.
  • Haus im Ennstal: a smaller village below the Hauser Kaibling, quieter than Schladming.
  • Pichl and Reiteralm: on the west side of the valley, by the Reiteralm lift.
  • Gröbming: in the eastern part of the region, handy if you want to combine Schladming with trips further east.

If you want to go up the Dachstein without driving every day, Ramsau is closest. If you want to be in town in the evening, stay in Schladming.

What to check before you book

Ask your host these questions, ideally in writing:

  1. “Are you a Schladming-Dachstein Card (formerly Sommercard) partner?” Without that, you won’t get the card.
  2. “Is the card included for everyone, children too?” Children have their own KidsCard.
  3. “Will you send me the link to the digital card?” You can’t activate the card on your phone without it.
  4. Planning the Dachstein? Then stay at least two consecutive nights with the same host. If you split your stay between two places with one night each, you won’t get onto the glacier with the card. On longer stays you can go up again from day 8.
  5. When do you arrive? On arrival day the card is valid only from 1 pm. No cable car in the morning, but the afternoon is fine.
  6. Travelling with a dog? There’s no Schladming-Dachstein Card for dogs; check the dog rules with each cable car.

If you can’t find partner accommodation

  • Freizeitcard: a paid season card with the same services and a few extras. For the 2026 season it costs €169 for adults, €139 for youths and €99 for children; in the presale until 29 May, adults paid €162 and youths €134. It mainly pays off if you come to the region repeatedly.
  • Another region: compare regions where cable cars come with your accommodation in the Styria region.

Summary

Look for Summer Card accommodation in Schladming in the region’s official search first, where every listing comes with the card. On Booking, ask the host whether they’re a Schladming-Dachstein Card partner. For the Dachstein you need at least two nights with the same host, and on arrival day the card is valid from 1 pm. Ramsau suits the Dachstein and peace and quiet; Schladming suits the town and lifts from the doorstep. You’ll find an accommodation search with your dates on the card page.
