Schladming-Dachstein Card 2026: cable cars, the Dachstein glacier and what's included

The Schladming-Dachstein Card replaced the Sommercard: one cable car a day, the Dachstein glacier from two nights, buses and pools. Rules, season and how to get it.

If you are looking for the Schladming Sommercard, from 2026 you will find it under a new name: the Schladming-Dachstein Card. You get it free from the first night at participating accommodation, and it gives you one cable car ride a day of your choice, including the Dachstein glacier. On top of that come buses, toll roads, museums and swimming pools.

What’s included

  • One cable car ride a day up and down, on the cable car of your choice. The rule applies to the whole day, not to each cable car separately.
  • Dachstein-Gletscherbahn to the glacier (up to 2,700 m) once, if you stay at least two consecutive nights with the same host. After seven days of your stay you can use it again.
  • Selected public transport lines in the region.
  • Toll roads, museums and entry to selected pools and lakes.
  • Depending on the area, more than 100 free benefits and more than 100 discounts. The card is digital and lives on your phone.
  • There is a separate KidsCard for children.

The cable cars included are shown on the map on the card page. They include Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm, Hauser Kaibling and Rittisberg.

2026 season

Period Dates
Sommercard 14 May – 30 September 2026
Herbstcard (autumn) 1 October – 1 November 2026

On arrival day the card is valid from 1 pm, on departure day for the whole day. The region has not yet published the conditions for 2027.

How much the card costs

At participating accommodation: nothing. It is included in your stay from the first night and cannot be bought. A family of four pays nothing extra for cable cars for a week.

If you do not stay with a partner, you can buy the paid seasonal Freizeitcard.

Planning a week with one cable car a day

Because you only have one ride a day, it pays to plan:

  1. Do the Dachstein early in your stay, as soon as you have two nights behind you. In clear weather you can see furthest from the glacier, and if the weather turns you still have days in reserve.
  2. For point-to-point hikes, choose the cable car that takes you highest. Then walk down.
  3. Use a rainy day for museums or swimming pools, which are also on the card.

What to watch out for

  • One cable car a day in total. If you want to ride both Planai and Hochwurzen in one day, you pay for the second ride.
  • Dachstein only from two nights at the same accommodation.
  • Only participating accommodation issues the card. The list is on the region’s website.

Summary

The Schladming-Dachstein Card is good value for a week’s stay with one mountain hike a day and a trip to the glacier. If you want to ride cable cars several times a day, the catalogue has cards with unlimited cable cars, for example in Salzburg. All cards in Styria are on the Styria page.
