Route description

  1. From the Bai de Dones car park on the road from Cortina to the Falzarego Pass, take the 5 Torri chairlift up to the Scoiattoli hut (2,255 m).
  2. Five minutes from the hut the open-air museum begins. Between the towers are restored trenches, shelters and artillery positions of the Italian army from the First World War.
  3. The Giro delle 5 Torri loop (M5c) circles the whole group of towers and passes the Rifugio Cinque Torri hut. According to the operator it takes about 2 hours. The map shows only the main paths from the station to the trenches and the hut; the waymarked loop winds around the towers on the ground.
  4. The loop ends back at the Scoiattoli hut and the chairlift top station.

Good to know

Shorter options

The museum also has shorter loops: the Upper Trench (M5a, about 20 minutes) and the Trench Trail (M5b, about 30 minutes). They suit younger children.

Footwear

These are stony mountain paths; even the short loops need sturdy shoes.
