Rittisberg with kids: attractions, cable car and a family day plan
Rittisberg in Ramsau am Dachstein with kids: attractions by age, 2026 cable car and alpine coaster prices, what the Schladming-Dachstein Card covers and a day plan.

The Rittisberg in Ramsau am Dachstein is a small family mountain beneath the Dachstein south face. Everything is close together: an alpine coaster, a high ropes course, a zipline and a swimming lake at the valley station, a playground and a hut at the top. With small children you can spend a whole day here without getting back in the car. Prices and rules are for summer 2026.

What the card covers and what you pay
The Rittisberg is part of the Schladming-Dachstein Card, which you get free from the first night at a partner property in the region.
Included:
- Rittisbergbahn up and down. The card gives one cable car ride per day in total, so on your Rittisberg day no other lift is free.
- Ramsau Beach swimming lake at the valley station. Without the card a day ticket is €5.50 (adult) and €3.50 (child).
- Coaster only outside the main season: one ride per person from 14 May to 1 July and from 17 September to 11 October 2026. In July and August you pay.
- Laser biathlon free on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:00.
Extra:
- Coaster in the main season: adult €11, child €8.50, adult with a small child in one sled €13. Blocks of 3 or 5 rides are cheaper.
- Forest high ropes course: small tour child €16, adult €30, family (2 adults and 1 child) €57.50.
- Flyline zipline: child €10, adult €12.50, adult with a small child €21.
- Archery about 15% cheaper with the card, e.g. 2 adults and 2 children €85 instead of €100.
- Parking €4.
Without the card a family of four pays €58 for the cable car (family ticket for 2 adults and one child, further children free). One coaster ride for all four adds €39.
Attractions by age
Toddlers and preschoolers (under 6)
- Mountain playground at the top station at 1,500 m: swings, climbing frames, slides and the “Auerhuhn” (capercaillie) themed trail. The Rittisstadl hut with its terrace is right next to it.
- Coaster with a parent from age 3, in the same sled as an adult.
- Net course in the ropes park is free for the youngest (born 2019–2023).
- Ramsau Beach: swimming lake with a playground at the valley station, free with the card.
School-age children (6–12)
- Coaster alone from age 8 and 1.35 m. The track is 1,330 m long, at most 9 m above the ground, and runs in the rain too.
- Forest high ropes course: small tour from 1.15 m, large tour from 1.40 m. You clip in once and stay secured for the whole course. Children under 15 only with adult supervision.
- Flyline from 1.15 m: glide between the treetops at a speed you control.
- Märchenweg (fairy-tale trail): 2.5 km up from the valley station with eight audio stations telling Grimm fairy tales. About 1.5 hours, rated moderately demanding by the operator. It ends at the Rittisstadl, and you ride the lift down.
Older children and teenagers
- Large ropes course tour (from 1.40 m) and the Canopy Tour zipline circuit, one line of which crosses the Ramsau Beach lake.
- 3D archery and laser biathlon, free with the card on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
- Summit cross at 1,582 m with a view of the Dachstein, a short walk from the top station.
Family day plan
- Up at 9:30. The playground is quietest in the morning. With children over 6 who like walking, hike up the Märchenweg and only ride down.
- Morning at the top: playground, short loop to the summit cross, lunch at the Rittisstadl.
- After lunch head down for the coaster. In July and August expect a queue.
- Afternoon by age: ropes course or Flyline for older kids, Ramsau Beach for everyone. The lakeside restaurant bakes pizza in the evening.
On a rainy day the coaster runs, the other attractions are outdoors. Pack a jacket: at 1,500 m it is cooler than in the valley.
Food and drink
At the top the Rittisstadl sits right by the playground, at the valley station the Waldcafé has homemade cakes, and there is Ramsau Beach at the lake. On the slopes are more huts: Halseralm, Rösteralm, Sonnenalm and Ochsenalm with a water park.
Where to stay
The Rittisberg is in Ramsau am Dachstein, about 15 minutes by car above Schladming. Ramsau is a quiet, very family-friendly plateau, and from many guesthouses you can walk to the Rittisberg. Only marked properties issue the card. How to find one is covered in Schladming accommodation with the summer card.
Our experience
We have three small children, and the Rittisberg is one of the places they love going back to. They are thrilled by everything: the playground at the top, the coaster ride and swimming in the lake. For us as parents the best part is that everything is close together and nobody gets bored. That way the whole family enjoys the mountains, not just the grown-ups dragging the kids along.
Summary
The Rittisberg is the ideal first family outing in the Schladming-Dachstein region: a short lift, a playground at the top and every attraction in one place. With the card the lift and swimming are included, the coaster only outside the main season. More outings nearby are in Schladming with kids in summer, and the neighbouring Planai with Hopsiland in Hopsiland Planai.
