- From Erlenbach in the Simmental take the Stockhornbahn to the Chrindi middle station.
- The loop around the Hinterstockensee (path no. 8) starts at the station. It crosses a bridge and goes through two rock tunnels.
- The whole loop takes about 40 minutes with 85 m of ascent and descent and ends back at Chrindi station.

With a pushchair
The Stockhornbahn says the loop can be done with an off-road pushchair. A normal city pushchair won't do here.
Extension
The Lebensräume am Stockhorn nature trail via the Oberstockensee (about 2:45 h) also starts at the lake.
With the card
The Berner Oberland Pass covers lifts, trains, buses and boats in the region without limit.

Yes. Included with the Berner Oberland Pass: Stockhornbahn Erlenbach – Chrindi up and down. Without the card it costs 44 CHF per adult and 22 CHF per child (children aged 6–15, younger free), so a family of 2 + 2 saves 132 CHF.
