Route description

  1. From Beatenberg take the gondola up the Niederhorn. From the top station the view opens up over Lake Thun and the trio of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
  2. The first part runs level above the treeline to the little Hohseil-Seeli lake, where alpine newts often swim. Even just walking here and back is worth it.
  3. Then climb to the Burgfeldstand (2,063 m), the highest point of the route. Between here and the Gemmenalphorn is the territory of ibex and ptarmigan.
  4. From the Gemmenalphorn (2,061 m) you can see the Sieben Hengste and the Hohgant. According to the Niederhornbahn the summit takes 1:30 h; return the same way.
