An easy loop above Kaprun past the huts and pastures of the Maiskogel family mountain. Most sections suit a pushchair, and from the Glocknerblick viewpoint you can see as far as the Großglockner.

Route description

  1. The MK Maiskogelbahn gondola runs straight from the centre of Kaprun to the top station at 1,570 m.
  2. From the top station a level path leads west to the Unterbergalm.
  3. Then climb gently to the Alpengasthof Glocknerblick (1,670 m), the highest point of the loop with views of the Hohe Tauern.
  4. The path then drops to the Maiskogel Alm Ranch (1,540 m) and returns to the top station. Below it is the Saulochalm, the last stop before riding down.

Good to know

With a pushchair

The sections from the top station to the Unterbergalm, the Glocknerblick and the Maiskogel Alm Ranch suit a pushchair. If you don't want the whole loop, walk out and back to one of the huts.

Food

There are four huts with home cooking on the loop, so no need to carry a packed lunch.

For children

The Maiskogel has a family park and the Maisi Flitzer summer toboggan run (paid separately).
