Route description
- The Rosenalmbahn gondola starts in Zell am Ziller and takes you up to the Rosenalm at around 1,740 m. You can also get off at the Wiesenalm middle station on the way, but for this trip ride all the way to the top.
- From the top station follow the waymarked Fichtenweg (spruce trail). After a few minutes you reach the Fichtenschloss, a wooden castle with four towers you can climb into. There is an 18 m lookout tower, a treetop walk, a marble run, a water and sand playground and a forest with hanging nets.
- The path continues to the Fichtensee lake. There you will find a viewing platform, boat and paddleboard hire, jetties for swimming and jumping, and the shallow Wichtelbucht bay for the youngest children.
- From the lake the loop returns to the top station. It is just under 2 km and takes an hour without stops. With children, allow half a day, as they will want to linger at the castle and the lake.
